Jerry Rankin, president of the International Mission Board, says it takes a lot of faith to believe God will provide $170 million through the annual missions offering named for the 19th century missionary, Lottie Moon. Even more is required given America’s current economic climate.

Over the past year, the U.S. dollar has lost as much as 15 percent of its value in the world marketplace. That means Southern Baptists must give 15 cents more for every dollar they give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in 2008 in order to match the buying power of every dollar given in 2007. Though 15 cents may not sound like much, in the scope of the IMB’s $300 million budget, those extra pennies add up to $45 million.

Thank you for giving sacrificially in order that we and the other 5000 IMB missionaries can stay on the field and continue to do the work that God has called us to do.  If you are not a member of a Baptist church and would like to contribute, send your check to First Baptist Church of Joelton, 7140 Whites Creek Pike, Joelton, TN 37080 and designate “Lottie Moon Offering.”

This is the northern part of the city of Maracay, the Las Delicias area, which is our target area.  The majority of the professionals of Maracay live in this area of luxury high-rises and large homes.

Within this area are four neighborhoods that we are targeting.

Maracay, the capital and most important city of Aragua State, is in central Venezuela.  It is the county seat of Girardot County.

Population:  2001 census 850,000 Maracay and the "metropolitan" area in 2005 - estimated  1,367,217

Maracay was officially established on March 25, 1701, by Bishop Diego de Baños y Sotomayor in the valleys of Tocopio and Tapatapa (what is known today as the central valley of Aragua) in northern Venezuela. It was named Maracay after a local indigenous chief.

Today, Maracay is known as the "Garden City of Venezuela" because it has more green areas than any other city in the country.
