Prayer Walk

June 2007
12/07/07

BIENVENIDO! ... WELCOME!   Won't you come walk with us in Maracay?  As we walk, let us pray that we look at the places and the people we visit through God's eyes of love.  Does Jesus love the people who live in the apartments in Maracay?  Does He love the ones who work and serve the patrons at the restaurants in town?  Does He love those who care for the patients in the hospitals?  How about the patients?  Does He love them?  Does He love all those working in the corporations and businesses in the city?  DOES JESUS LOVE THE PEOPLE OF MARACAY?  Did He give His life for them so that they might have LIFE?  OH, YES!

How can you share the love of Jesus with the people Maracay?  Will you commit to walk with us on a regular basis and pray over these prayer stops?  PRAY ... PRAY ... PRAY as you walk!

Thank you for coming.  Please come again and again as you lift these requests to our Father.

I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6

Venezuela has many beautiful tropical birds, like this one, the Great Kiskadee.  This little fellow was giving us a concert from a tree in the plaza across from our apartment.  He reminded me of the verse in Matt 6 which tells us not to worry about taking care of ourselves because God even takes care of the birds although “they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”

Pray that the professionals will look to their heavenly Father for their needs instead of devoting all their time to taking care of themselves and accumulating more and more.

This is a statue of General Jose Antonio Paez, a contemporary of Simon Bolivar, and a leader in the war for independence from Spain in the 1820’s.  However, after the war he decided he didn’t want to share power with Bolivar and set himself up as the head of a new government.  So many times, pride ruins friendships and takes us away from God.

Pray that the professionals, who tend to be very proud of their accomplishments, would humble themselves before God, repent, ask forgiveness and ask Him to be the Savior and Lord of their lives.

The beautiful flowering tree is the Apamate tree which is common throughout Venezuela.  It shows the beauty of God’s creation all around us, if we would just open our eyes.

Pray that the professionals would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel and see the beauty of following Christ.

Wednesday Group – Pictured here is our newest small group.  We have been meeting together since our last conference at the end of February.  This picture was taken on an outing to a country club where one of the couples has a membership.  Friendships are forming among the group, and a community is beginning.  Spending time together outside the group is one way to accomplish this.

Pray for this new group as they study how the Bible applies to their everyday lives.

Pray that each one would pray to receive Christ as their personal Savior. T

he members pictured are: (L to R) Winelia, Jose and his wife Diana, Wilmer, Inez, Jan, Yahyn (Wilmer’s wife), Angel and his girlfriend Nelia. Missing is Liliana. Winelia, Wilmer and Yahyn are members of our team.

San Jose School – This private Catholic school is only two blocks from our apartment.  We have conducted several of our seminars here.  The director has been very helpful in renting us space for a very reasonable price.  We are planning to have more conferences here in the future.

Pray that each professional that enters this building to attend one of our conferences will want to become a part of a small group and invite Christ into his life.

Person of the Month – This is Bianca Gonzalez.  She is a member of our Tuesday Ladies Group.  Bianca is a math teacher at a large public school in Maracay.  She teaches junior and seniors.  This is her first teaching job, and it has not been easy for her.  At times her students are rebellious and unwilling to study.  She lives at home with her family, as do most Venezuelan single girls, and helps her mother with her younger brothers and sisters.

Bianca has recently prayed to receive Christ.  Her attendance at the group is, unfortunately, sporadic at best.

Pray that Bianca would grow in her faith

Pray that the Lord would put a desire in her heart to be more faithful to the group and receive the nutrition she needs to grow in her new faith as well as the support she needs from more mature believers.
