Prayer Walk

December 2006
12/07/07

BIENVENIDO! ... WELCOME!   Won't you come walk with us in Maracay?  As we walk, let us pray that we look at the places and the people we visit through God's eyes of love.  Does Jesus love the people who live in the apartments in Maracay?  Does He love the ones who work and serve the patrons at the restaurants in town?  Does He love those who care for the patients in the hospitals?  How about the patients?  Does He love them?  Does He love all those working in the corporations and businesses in the city?  DOES JESUS LOVE THE PEOPLE OF MARACAY?  Did He give His life for them so that they might have LIFE?  OH, YES!

How can you share the love of Jesus with the people Maracay?  Will you commit to walk with us on a regular basis and pray over these prayer stops?  PRAY ... PRAY ... PRAY as you walk!

Thank you for coming.  Please come again and again as you lift these requests to our Father.

I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6

This year we are starting a new feature on our Virtual Prayer Walk.  Each month we will spotlight one of the members of our small groups.  We ask you to pray especially for them during the month.

This month we are spotlighting one of the members of our Wednesday group, Delia Esperanza Guerra de Gill.  She likes to be called by her second name, Esperanza, which in English means Hope. Esperanza graduated from the university with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  She now works for the government on the new rail line.  She is in charge of designing, installing and maintaining all the signals on the line.

Please pray for Esperanza that:

1.      As a new believer who prayed to receive Christ in December, she would grow in her walk with Christ and be baptized.

2.      She would be faithful to attend the group weekly to receive discipleship

3.      As a newly-wed that she and her husband Ticho(who is also a new believer) would make Christ the center of their marriage and grow in their love towards one another.

This tree is the Araguaney, the national tree of Venezuela.  It was given this distinction because it is found in all parts of the country.  Just as Christ can bring color and beauty to the dry souls of the professionals, so the Araguaney, which only blooms at this time of the year, brings bright color to the brown landscape of Maracay during our dry season.

Pray that the Professionals of Maracay would be drawn closer to God as they see the beauty of His creation in the bright yellow blooms all around them.

This is a picture of the Tuesday Ladies Group, (L to R), Mercedes, Maria, Yasqlet, Bianca and Yelitza.  All of the ladies except Maria work together as teachers in one of the public schools in Maracay.  Maria is the owner of our apartment and is a full time housewife and mother of three teenage girls.

Please pray that each of these ladies would be open to the gospel which we will be presenting in the next few weeks.  Pray for receptive and understanding hearts and minds.

This statue of a bull is the symbol of the Giradot area of Maracay which encompasses our target area.  The statue was commissioned  by the then dictator of Venezuela, Juan Vicente Gomez.  Gomez settled in Maracay and made it the virtual capital of the country during his tenure in office, (1908-1935).  To a cattleman like Gomez, the bull represented the characteristics of vitality and virility which Gomez said that he shared.  This is the same attitude which the professionals of Maracay have today.  In their way of thinking they are strong, full of vitality and completely self-sufficient without any need of God.

Please pray that they would see themselves as the Lord sees them and realize that their strength and vitality come only from Him.

This is a picture of the area known as El Castaño.  It is in the foothills of the Costal Range, which separates Maracay from the Caribbean Sea.  This area is known for its mineral springs and there is a bottling plant for spring water here.  Just as this area gives forth fresh clean spring water, so Christ is our eternal spring of “living water.”

Pray that the professionals would be thirsty for this spiritual water and accept the free gift and filling that only Christ can bring to their dry lives.
