Dear Prayer Partners,

The time has flown by since I last wrote you.  I can't believe almost two months have gone by since my last letter.  I will try and catch you up on what is happening in our ministry so you know better how to pray.

I mentioned in my last letter how the Lord had opened a door for us in teaching English at the Language College.  During the summer we continued with informal classes in our apartment and had the pleasure of sharing several Bible stories with Rudy and Leo.

In September classes started again at the school and Mike went to his first class, only to find out that his class had doubled in size from the previous Spring!  He hurriedly ran back to the apartment and enlisted my help so we could divide the class.  We praise God that now both of us are leading conversation classes and are able to befriend even more young professionals.  Please pray that our relationships with these young people will deepen and we will be able to share with them about the Lord.

I also want to give you a follow-up on Angelo Manuel, the young man who was poisoned at a street fair and become paralyzed and blind as a result.  The good news is that he is making good progress in moving his arms and legs.  The bad news is that his sight has not yet returned.

Once again, the Lord has given us an open door to this devastated family.  Mike has been visiting Angelo Manuel since the end of August.  Each time he goes, he shares scripture with the young man and his parents, Angelo and Giselle.  Please continue to pray for this difficult situation.  Pray that through this tragedy the Lord would be glorified and this family would come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Another open door that we have is through teaching in the Bible Institute of Aragua. This is the Bible school for the local pastors in and around Maracay.  Mike is in his third term of teaching, and I will be starting in January.  We are excited about being used by the Lord to train believers here.  This is so important to the future of Baptist work in Venezuela.  Pray for this school, that the local churches would support it by sending their pastors and leaders to receive the training so that they may be workmen approved by God, "who correctly handle the word of truth."

Please continue praying for our work in Coro and Punto Fijo.  We will be having a retreat with the Punto Fijo church in a few weeks.  Satan has been busy stirring up problems in several marriages in this church.  Please pray that the couples would be strong and stand firm in the Lord during this difficult time.  Pray that all would attend the retreat and their commitment to each other and their faith in the Lord would be strengthened at this time.

Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for us and our ministry.  May the Lord bless you as you bless us.

Always, JAN
