2006 Updates and Prayer

November 21, 2006
Dear Prayer
Partners,
Well, the
holiday season is upon us. Where has the year gone!?! While this is a
special week in the States with Thanksgiving and the start of
the Christmas season, the folks down here just see it as another regular
week. Some of them may have heard about the "day of giving thanks," but
few understand the history or the significance of it. Frankly, I wonder
if many Americans have forgotten the significance of it as well.
Mike and I
plan to change that with our groups. We are going to give them a slice
of Americana this week with a scaled-down version of a typical
Thanksgiving dinner. After eating turkey, dressing(stuffing),
cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes, we will have a time of giving
thanks to the Lord for the many blessings he has bestowed on us this
year. I pray that you will also do that around your dinner table.
Let's not forget the reason we celebrate this holiday.
Both of
the groups are doing well. We are moving along through the studies
and on Dec. 13th, we will be sharing with our Wednesday group the story
of Nicodemus. At that time we will ask them to pray and be born-again.
Pray that hearts and minds will be open to receive this invitation to
pray for Christ to be their Savior and Lord. Since we are a few lessons
behind in the Tuesday group, this will not happen for them until
sometime in January.
We will
also be having our holiday parties with our groups here in Maracay and
then travel to Coro and Punto Fijo to celebrate with our friends in
Falcon. Please pray that this Christmas would be a special one for all
the people in our groups. Let them see the birth of Jesus as they have
never seen it before. Pray that they would see beyond the babe in the
manger. Pray that they would see Jesus, high and lifted up, the King of
Kings and the Lord of Lords.
One of the things for which
Mike and I are very thankful is your faithfulness in praying for us and
our ministry. As we think about the professionals in Coro and Punto Fijo
that have given their lives to Christ and ones in Maracay whose eyes are
being open to the truth of the gospel, we realize how much your prayers
have meant to our work here in Venezuela. We could not do this without
you.
Thank you again.
Always, JAN
