May 25, 2007 Dear Prayer Partners, Thank you so much for praying for the conference last night. The Lord answered your prayers in many wonderful ways. However, Satan did not give up without a fight. First of all, the speaker, Dr Herbert Palomino, was supposed to arrive in the morning but his plane was over 2 hours late. We were told it was because of rain and fog. Mike and I figured out very quickly who had sent the rain and fog since it complicated matters. However, Dr. Palomino did finally arrive and he there was still time for him to rest and go over his notes before the conference. Second, when we arrived at the conference site at 6:30, there was still no power. We began to pray and ask the Lord to give us power, both literally and figuratively. At 6:45, 15 minutes before the conference was to begin, the power came on! What an answer to all our prayers! Thirdly, it was difficult for the people to arrive since there was a big traffic tie-up at the main avenue leading to the conference site. Once again, the Lord displayed his power and we had the largest attendance we have ever had in Maracay, over 35 people! Everyone left very contented with the talk. One person remarked it was the first time she had heard such good advice about how to work together to strengthen your family. Thus, the Lord worked in many powerful ways! Please keep praying for the attendees that all will return for the next two weeks of follow-up seminars and then be part of the new small group we will be starting after that. We feel very encouraged after seeing how the Lord worked all things out last night. Thank you again. PTL. Always, JAN
May 23, 2007 Dear Prayer Partners, Mike and I are in urgent need of your prayers at this moment. Tomorrow our professional organization (UPE) is sponsoring a conference about the family. We have been publicizing it heavily and have about 20 people scheduled to attend. This morning we learned that the place where the conference is to be held will be without electricity during the afternoon hours. Supposedly there will be power after 6:00pm. Our conference is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm. You can see how important it is to us to have power by 6pm. Please pray that the power would come back on as scheduled so the conference can precede. Once again we are in the middle of spiritual warfare. However, we know that our God is stronger and with the prayers of His people we have confidence that we will have the victory.
Thank you, JAN
May 9, 2007 Dear Prayer Partners, I realize that technically this is not the harvest season, but then again it is always the harvest season for God. As children of God, we are always sowing, watering, and caring for the seeds of the gospel we are planting in the hearts of the people around us. We praise God for this opportunity and for the harvest of souls we know will come in his timing. Rejoice with us as we see the growth of the seeds that we planted months ago in the hearts and minds of many professionals in Maracay. Our Tuesday afternoon Ladies group continues to grow in their understanding of living the Christian life. We can see the hunger they have for the Bible. It is a real pleasure for us to work with these ladies. Our new Wednesday night group continues to grow numerically as well as spiritually. We are now running around 7-8 regulars. This group is fairly new, having been started about 6 weeks ago. Pray that they will be open to receiving the Lord in a few weeks when given the opportunity. On the 24th of this month, we will be sponsoring another conference, this time concerning the family. Dr. Herbert Palomino, a Christian psychologist and family counselor will be speaking on "The Challenge of Being a Family in the 21st Century." We have just started publicizing it. Pray that many professionals will sign up to attend as they realize they need help in this area of their lives. Pray for the safe trip and good health for Dr. Palomino. Pray for good follow-up sessions after the conference and that several small groups may be formed. Thank you for praying for our trip to eastern Venezuela. Mike spoke on several occasions to church groups who wanted teaching on how to reach professionals for Christ. We are excited about this grass roots movement among the churches. I believe the Lord is really moving in the hearts of Venezuelan believers to reach this under-evangelized population segment. Thank you for your continued prayer support. Continue to pray for a great harvest of professionals. Always, JAN
