Dear Prayer Partners,

May has certainly been a busy month for us as we ministered to people and shared the word in many different ways.  Here is a recap of how the Lord has used us for His kingdom work during the past month.

1. The local church to which we belong, The First Baptist Church of Maracay, is continuing to work in the neighborhood of Giradot (here-a-dote).  We have helped with prayer walks, a movie night in the plaza, and a talk to parents and their teenagers.  We also helped with a college team that came for 10 days and did sports clinics in the afternoon, skits at night, and worked at developing relationships with the young people of the area.  It was an exhausting, yet very rewarding time for us.  Pray that the church would be diligent in their follow-up with the youth who made decisions during the week.

2.  We are still using the teaching of English as a tool to reach young professionals.  For the last six weeks we have had a group in our apartment practicing their English.  We have used studies from the Book of Proverbs, which are practical and enlightening.  In 2 weeks we start a six week course in Conversational English at the Language College.  Pray that we will be able to touch more lives and develop relationships with more young professionals.

3.  Our small group ministry continues on Monday and Wednesday nights.  Our core group is faithful, but we have not seen any numerical growth.  However, we are delighted with the spiritual growth we have seen in all the participants. On June 14, we will have another Celebration Time for the two groups to come together to praise and worship the Lord.  Please pray that we will have good attendance at this event.

4.  We have just finished a Marriage Retreat for several pastoral couples from Coro and Punto Fijo.  It was a great time for us to share how to strengthen their marriages and minister to the flock at the same time.  We will be presenting this same conference in two weeks to a number of pastoral couples here in Maracay.  Please pray for these couples that have committed to come.  Pray that they would follow through with their commitment and that their minds and hearts would be open to receive the teaching we have planned for them.

Please continue to pray for Mike's health.  He has just finished another round of medicine and his platelets are down once again. PTL.  He will go back for another blood test at the end of this month.  Our prayer is that the platelets would stay at a normal level and he would not have to go back on the medicine.

Thank you for your prayers for us and our ministry to the professionals of Maracay.

Always, JAN
