12/07/07 June 17, 2006 Dear Prayer Partners, We received our visas, praise the Lord! Mike and I are very thankful to God for this wonderful answer to prayers. We are also very thankful to you, our faithful prayer partners, for the many prayers you lifted up in our behalf. We received a call last Monday telling us the good news. It was totally unexpected since we had been told that the visas only were issued on Thursdays. Once again we see that everything is in the Lord's timing and not man's timing. We were able to share the good news with our friends in Falcon that we will be here at least another year and longer as the Lord wills. We are also joyfully looking forward to going to Mission Meeting in Ecuador. Thank you again for your prayers. As the scriptures say in James 5:16b, "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (NIV) Always, JAN
June 8, 2006 Dear Prayer Partners, I am writing you from our apartment in Maracay! Thank you so much for lifting our request for an apartment in this city up to the Lord. He has answered in a mighty way. Even though there were few apartments for rent, the very first day we were shown just the right one. It was located in the right neighborhood and had the three bedrooms we were looking for. The owner, Maria, was embarrassed by the shape the other renters had left the apartment and promised to clean and paint every room so it would look like new. When we agreed on a price, she went to work and within two weeks we were able to move in. We feel very blessed to have this place. We are still in the process of unpacking boxes, but things are slowly coming together and it is looking like home. Please pray for Maria, the owner. She is very friendly and we have already talked to spiritual things. She seems very open to talking about God and the Bible. Pray that we will have more contact with her and can develop a relationship that will lead to more sharing with her about the Lord and having a personal relationship with Him. Our other request, which we have mentioned before concerns our visas. We turned in the paperwork the day after we arrived. We checked in the office today and they have not heard anything. To complicate matters, we need our visas by Friday, June 23rd because we are to leave for Ecuador on Monday, June 26th to attend our annual Missions Meeting. Normally it is held here, but this year they are combining Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador into one big meeting. However, without our visas we can't leave the country. Obviously we are getting short on time. Please pray that our visas would be renewed next week and we can make plans to go to Ecuador. Thank you again for your prayers. Mike and I know the Lord is in control. We rest in that thought. He has shown Himself to be faithful so many times. We truly serve an all-powerful God who loves to give good gifts to His children. We will keep you updated on our visa situation. Always, JAN
